Who copied the iPhone X best? Categories:   Samsung ,   LG ,   HTC ,   Apple ,   Sony ,   Polls ,   Xiaomi Hint - the iPhone X can't even muster a shiny blue version Top bezel protrusions, vertical corner camera kits, there is a veritable fashion trend among phones low and high this year. In the  Android world, there are those that don't go after the  iPhone X design compromise dubbed the "notch" ( Samsung , Sony, HTC) and then... there is everyone else, it seems. Not only did third-tier Chinese manufacturers out their X clones shortly after  Apple 's introduction, but the notches keep swimming upstream, and spawning at unexpected places, like the third and fourth-largest  phone  makers globally. Back in 2016, barely anyone had thought of introducing handsets with variable top bezel thickness ( we know, LG, we know ), while, fast forward to this current smartphone season, and it seems that notches are everywhere. As noted, it appears Samsung’s Vice Chairman Lee Jan-Yong visited a number of local stores in Shenzhen to check out competing smartphones and, upon doing so, the Chairman is said to have realized that other smartphones offer an increased feeling of grip. In light of this, Lee Jan-Yong reportedly spoke to Samsung’s engineers in the hope fixing this issue by reducing the thickness of the Galaxy Note 9’s display glass by 0.5mm, a decision that has ultimately led to a delay of two weeks. If this is the case, the  Galaxy Note 9 should see an official announcement towards the beginning of August, falling in line with the company's typical timeline, with sales then

Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) may jump straight to Oreo 8.1 more

Image
Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) may jump straight to Oreo 8.1 31 MAY 2018 Up until now, Samsung has released Oreo for  many   of   its smartphones . The updates bumped the Android version to 8.0. However, now it looks like there may be some devices that will directly jump to Android 8.1. Case in point: a GFXBench listing for the  Galaxy J5 (2017) that shows Android 8.1 on board. Previously, the  Galaxy J5 (2016)  also jumped  straight to Android 7.1.1  after being  spotted  running the OS in benchmarks. So, a precedent is clearly there. And it's likely that other J series devices in the series will also make the same jump. Sadly, there's currently no info on exactly when the update will begin rolling out to these J series devices.
