Hint - the iPhone X can't even muster a shiny blue version
Top bezel protrusions, vertical corner camera kits, there is a veritable fashion trend among phones low and high this year. In the Androidworld, there are those that don't go after the iPhone Xdesign compromise dubbed the "notch" (Samsung, Sony, HTC) and then... there is everyone else, it seems.
Not only did third-tier Chinese manufacturers out their X clones shortly after Apple's introduction, but the notches keep swimming upstream, and spawning at unexpected places, like the third and fourth-largest phone makers globally. Back in 2016, barely anyone had thought of introducing handsets with variable top bezel thickness (we know, LG, we know), while, fast forward to this current smartphone season, and it seems that notches are everywhere.

Case in point is today's Xiaomi Mi 8 announcement. Notch? Check. Dual vertical camera in the corner? Check. 3D face scanning? Check. Portrait modes, augmented reality emoji, the works. That's not to say that companies like Huawei, and even LG, have fallen far behind, but the Mi 8 seems to take the iPhone X design xeroxing to a whole new level. Xiaomi is an equal opportunity copycat, though - it takes the most interesting features from other handsets too, like the transparent housing introduced with the HTC U12+, for what it's worth.

That is why we wanted to ask you which of the more popular Android makers that outed notch-y phones after it became cool, is having the best iPhone X impersonation so far. This is some important survey for the future generations of design students that will have to learn how Android manufacturers fell into Apple's notch trap in a separate chapter of their schoolbooks. The only funnier survey will be if Apple ditches the notch for next year's iPhones, but let's not get cruel here.
