Just a day before the official launch, BlackBerry Key2 leaks in full + pricing

07 JUNE 2018
Just a day before BlackBerry's official release of the Key2 in New York, the device's complete specs sheet leaks online revealing decent specs and cool features that are quickly overshadowed by the price, however.
The specs sheet reveals almost everything from physical dimensions and pre-loaded apps to supported bands. The display is a 4.5-incher with an old-school 3:2 aspect ratio (1080x1620px resolution) protected by Gorilla Glass 3 layer. The iconic physical keyboard has 35 backlit keys with an integrated fingerprint sensor for extra security.

The sheet confirms the Snapdragon 660 chipset that was rumored earlier along with the memory configuration - 6GB of RAM paired with either 64 or 128GB of internal storage that can be expanded with up to 256GB microSD card. All is fueled by a generous 3,500 mAh battery supporting Quick Charge 3.0. The Key2 ships with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. The device is charged over USB-C 3.0 connector supporting DisplayPort output standard.
The back of the device houses a dual camera setup - wide-angle 12MP sensor with big 1.28μm pixels and a f/1.8 aperture lens while the second, f/2.6 camera is probably used for depth sensing. The front-facing camera is 8MP with fixed focus - the LCD display lights up for better low-light selfies if needed.

In addition, Evan Blass was able to snatch the pricing of the Key2 and unfortunately, we can't see it competing with similarly-priced devices that often sport more powerful internals. The expected price for the US market is $649, €649 in the EU, £579 in the UK and $829 for Canada. This means that the Key2 should rely mainly on its unique features and its business users.
We will know more once the device sees broad daylight during tomorrow's official unveiling in New York.
